The PNG Rugby League requested Fotomedia design and execute a television and print campaign for the PNG Hunters. The PNG Hunters are Papua New Guinea’s National team and represent the nation in the Intrust SuperCup.

As the nation gears up for the Pacific Games, Port Moresby’s , Sir Hurbert Murray Stadium is under construction so the team are based in Kokopo, in the New Britain Islands. Kokopo is world famous for its active volcano and it is here Fotomedia filmed and photographed the campaign.

The TVC plays on the idea that the Hunters have gathered from across the nation, training in the harsh, raw conditions of Kokopo. Their pre-season training has been harsh and grueling and has prepared them for the season ahead… they are ready to be a Hunter….. so let the Hunt begin!

Shot over 3 days, the team endured the heat of the volcano and the reprieve of the rain. The rain worked in favour with filming, adding to the severity of the training conditions. On the third day the heavens opened, allowing DOP Lincoln Williams to work the sunlight, shooting striking imagery marrying landscape and back lit silhouettes.

The same location was used to collate the backgrounds and volcano elements in preparation for the post production. The hero imagery was photographed in the Hunters training centre with studio lighting giving the retouches maximum control of the final output. Over 10 hours was spent on each hero photograph. The final output has become the foundation of their brand for 2015, seen in magazines, major billboards across PNG and other print mediums and online.
