The councils of the Richmond River Catchment are in Northern NSW, lead by the Ballina Shire Council engaged Fotomedia to create an animation campaign promoting discussion about keeping their waterways clear, in particular; the health and wellbeing of the Richmond River.
Quirky, engaging, funny and not-at-all corporate were our only guidelines for the animation. The entire project, from its conception all the way through to its theatrical debut was handled entirely by Fotomedia’s Brisbane animation studio. Great care was taken to push the humour to a point where its absurdity and contextual appropriateness were perfectly balanced.
Three 2D animated episodes were created, each touching on a specific issue the councils had identified as problematic for the Richmond River Catchment. The campaign is being run on TV, Cinemas and social media all throughout the Northern NSW region, along with its landing page loveitorloseit.com.au
Fotomedia also created and designed supporting documentation, booklets and the landing page website.
The Love it or Lose it campaign has won a 2018 RH Dougherty Local Government NSW ‘Excellence in Communication’ Award. The campaign has also received a Highly Commended for the Love it or Lose it project in the Local Government Excellent in Environment Awards in the Communication, Education and Empowerment Division.
“After a very competitive market response Ballina Shire Council engaged Fotomedia to produce three environmental education animated videos on three different topics. Due to our great working relationship and quality of work the project expanded and Fotomedia delivered three, three minute videos, three 30 second TVCs/cinema adverts, a landing page and a series of factsheets. From the start the team at Fotomedia impressed Council with their targeted project submission that nailed the project brief. It has been a pleasure working with the Fotomedia team and they will certainly be the first agency we call when looking to do similar work in the future.”
